My Top 5 Favorite Apps to Revamp My Home

IMG-5824.jpg

In the past 2 years my home and style has been through it honey. My former home décor style leaned towards red, white, and black for my living room and kitchen and beige and aqua for my bedroom. I did not have a single creative bone in my body and DIY was a foreign concept for me. Oh how the times have changed. My last apartment, I feel was my transitional space. I was in between styles, couldn’t decide if I wanted to keep my old things or start anew, testing the waters by buying new more adventurous items to see how I liked it. Since moving in December of 2020 aka the year of reckoning, I decided that this would be the place that I revamped my style, the time that I took all of those pins that I save on Pinterest and make them come to life.

A complete style makeover takes time, dedication, a vision, and some coins. Now I can’t help you with the coins part, you’re gonna have to take that up with Susan in HR, but I can tell you how I was able to achieve my new home décor goals. Here are my top 5 home décor apps!

1Pinterest

I kind of gave this one away in my previous paragraph, but that’s because I was so excited and I couldn’t wait! Pinterest is like if your mind and other people’s style had a baby and placed all the ideas that you could have ever wanted in the perfect grid lined platform. I always use Pinterest as the starting point for any room or ideas I may have. Now I admit, I wasn’t always a Pinterest lover (cue the gasps, I know.) It was actually my mother that got me hooked. Once I began to truly explore that app, it was like chicken noodle soup for my soul. I guarantee you that if you have a design idea, Pinterest will have 5,000 different versions of it for you to gain ideas from. Download it today for clear skin.

2. Target

Screw Disneyworld, Target is the happiest place on Earth to me, and that’s on period! I am the person that goes into Target for toothpaste and somehow spends $250, don’t ask me how it happens, it just does. Since moving I have continued to dance with this devil and decided to download the Target app. The reason why this has been beneficial to me (at least that is what I keep telling myself as I cry every month while looking at my bank statements), is that the app will send you updates when certain departments are having sales. Another reason why this is awesome is because when you sign up and spend you begin to rake up Target circle dollars. This is basically a version of a cashback system, for every purchase you may get $0.30-$1.50 back and at Target every little bit helps!

Another reason why I live for Target is for their Opalhouse collection. This collection I would credit for my style evolution. It started with 2 comforter sets that have now morphed into more comforters, candles, picture frames, shower curtains, and rugs. Needless to say, I’m a fan.

 3. Amazon

Amazon has gotten us all through this quarantine, you’re welcome Jeff Bezos. I have discovered that the Amazon truck is to adults what the ice cream truck is to children. While the Amazon truck may not play the Mr. Softee song to let you know it’s in the neighborhood, the app will let you know when it’s 10 stops away, which is good enough for me. Aside from being able to get all your basics delivered to your door step, which is a must when you’ve just moved and forgotten to buy dish soap, command strips, or trash bags, you can also purchase furniture to be delivered to your door step. A feature that I have discovered on Amazon that has been amazing is showing furniture in your room. It allows you to scale a space and actually put the item in the room. This can be great if your indecisive about a piece and need to see if it fits your vibe, without worrying about lugging furniture to the post office to be returned. As always, READ THE REVIEWS AND TRUST YOUR GUT BASED OF THEM!

4. Facebook Marketplace / 5. OfferUp

My friends it seems like Craig has packed up his list (see what I did there?) and made way for second hand selling apps such as Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp. Much like Craigslist, these apps allow sellers to post their items for resale, however these apps have improved the speed of communication and foot traffic. Another feature that these apps have added is the ability to get a quote through the app for a Dolly helper or driver (another 1 of my favorite apps) to get your larger purchases home.

In addition to loving my new items, I love a good thrift/ second hand find. To me, they give your home some character and uniqueness. Apps like these allow for you to search for items that are better suited for your taste and you can also save them to look at another time. Of course, BE SAFE WHEN GOING TO SOMEONE’S HOME IF THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO MEET IN A NEUTRAL LOCATION! One of my new favorite bloggers, Imani at Home, wrote a great article for tips on staying safe. Read it here: Blog — Imani At Home

With these apps, making your space over doesn’t have to be a huge pain in the ass. If you haven’t already take a look at these and if you do have these apps, make sure that you have taken the time to explore the features so that you can get the best it has to offer!
